Cyera vs Sentra for sensitive-data classification and the action after it

Both sell agentless discovery and classification of sensitive data. Cyera names revoke, mask, and Omni DLP on top of the DLP you already run. Sentra classifies inside your environment and can block, justify, or verify a paste into an AI app.

AWS Marketplace lists both under the same kind of name: Cyera Cloud Data Security Platform and Sentra Cloud Data Security Platform. A shortlist that stops at “DSPM platform versus cloud DSPM” does not tell you which action is in the quote. Cyera’s DSPM page lists 30 or more remediation actions, including revoke access, mask data, trigger a workflow, or route the issue to the data owner. Sentra’s pricing page says scanning stays inside your environment and that data does not leave your perimeter.

On the AI path the named controls also differ. Cyera’s Omni DLP page describes a decision layer for data moving across email, cloud, and AI, and it says Omni DLP sits above existing DLP enforcement points rather than replacing them. Sentra’s Shadow AI DLP post (4 Aug 2026) describes a browser control: local classification of a paste or upload, then Block, Justify, Verify, Allow, or no enforcement, before the content reaches the AI provider. Sentra says that browser control is not a replacement for email, network, or endpoint DLP. Sentra versus Concentric is a different pair under Sentra vs Concentric.

That review is about Sentra’s risk class and the need to tune it. Cyera’s DSPM page makes the same kind of claim from the other side: an AI-native classifier for data that is unique to the business, with a stated 95%+ precision and no manual rules. A misclassified file changes which revoke, mask, or block action fires. Ask both demos to show a company-specific class, not only a credit-card pattern.

Editions and pricing

Cyera’s AWS Marketplace dimensions name the product, the cap, the support, and the term. Sentra’s own pricing page is a quote tied to volume of data at rest across IaaS, PaaS, DBaaS, SaaS, and on-premises. Sentra’s AWS listing names Standard, Essential, Advanced, and Enterprise as 12-month plans and says each plan bills by gigabytes of data at rest that Sentra discovers and classifies. The listing does not state how many gigabytes those plans include, so the dollar figures are omitted here.

Match the quote to the package text. A Cyera order at 50,000.00 USD is the Standard Package of Cloud Data Security Platform and 24×7 support up to 25 TB for 12 months. It is not, on that line, a named Omni DLP subscription. A Sentra order still needs the gigabyte quantity and the module list in the quote.

Both will say they find sensitive data without an agent. The check is the action after the class. For Cyera, ask the demo to revoke or mask one overexposed object and to show the workflow that fired. For Sentra, ask the demo to show a duplicate or shadow copy, the class it assigned, and what you changed in the classifier when the class was wrong.

DLP you already run, and the AI paste

What you can test in a pilotOne existing DLP alert re-scored with Cyera’s class and access context, plus one revoke or mask on a datastoreOne shadow copy of production data, plus one paste of a known class into an AI app that should block or require a written reason

Neither product page says it rips out the DLP stack you already pay for. Cyera’s named addition is the decision layer and the datastore actions. Sentra’s named addition on the AI channel is the browser decision, fed by classes from the in-environment scan.

Where they overlap

Both discover and classify sensitive data without an agent. Both can keep the bytes in your environment: Cyera offers an in-environment deployment as well as SaaS, and Sentra says data does not leave your perimeter. Both use access and ownership in the risk, not only a regex hit. Both now describe an AI path that depends on those classes. Both also say they work with DLP controls you already have, rather than being the only enforcement point for email and endpoints. An RFP that only says “DSPM” will get two credible responses. The rows above are the parts a buyer can check without treating the products as opposites.

When to use both

Running both is reasonable when the actions are different: Cyera’s revoke, mask, and Omni DLP decisioning on one side, Sentra’s in-environment scan and browser paste policy on the other. It is waste when both are only classifying the same stores and opening two tickets for the same object. Keep one owner for the class name so a file is not “customer data” in one tool and “public” in the other.

Book the demo around that action. Cyera’s published 12-month packages are 50,000.00 USD up to 25 TB, 100,000.00 USD up to 100 TB, and 250,000.00 USD up to 250 TB, for Cloud Data Security Platform and 24×7 support. Sentra still needs the gigabyte quantity and the module list on the quote. The package name on both AWS listings is a cloud data security platform. The difference is the action, not that label.

FAQs

Are Cyera and Sentra the same DSPM product?

No. Both classify sensitive data without an agent. Cyera names 30 or more datastore actions, including revoke and mask, and Omni DLP as a decision layer above existing DLP. Sentra names in-environment scanning and Shadow AI DLP actions on a browser paste: Block, Justify, Verify, Allow, or no enforcement.

Is this the same page as Sentra vs Concentric?

No. Sentra vs Concentric is a different pair. The pair here is Cyera and Sentra on classification, datastore or DLP action, and the AI paste.

What public prices should buyers note?

Cyera on AWS Marketplace, 12-month contract, USD: Standard Package 50,000.00 for Cloud Data Security Platform and 24×7 support up to 25 TB; Business Package 100,000.00 up to 100 TB; Enterprise Package 250,000.00 up to 250 TB. Fees are non-cancellable except as required by law. The dimension text does not name Omni DLP. Sentra’s site quotes on data-at-rest volume across IaaS, PaaS, DBaaS, SaaS, and on-premises. Sentra’s AWS plans do not state a gigabyte quantity, so those dollars are not repeated here.

Is this a scored bake-off?

No. Order is editorial.
