Apiiro vs Cycode for Design-to-Runtime ASPM
Apiiro Guardian Agent builds a threat model from a feature request, diagram, or spec and puts that context in the coding prompt. Cycode’s Code Security plan lists SAST, SCA, container, and IaC scans, and Maestro’s Exploitability and Remediation agents trace a finding to a fix.
An RFP that says “ASPM graph and an AI fix” fits both products. The check is which artifact you can open. Apiiro’s AI Threat Modeling, announced 23 Mar 2026, reads a feature request, epic, diagram, spec, or whiteboard screenshot and applies STRIDE against architecture that Deep Code Analysis builds from code through runtime. Guardian Agent’s Secure Prompt then puts that context into the coding prompt. AutoFix is the safety net for code that still lands wrong.
Cycode’s pricing page splits the other artifacts into plans you can point at: Code Security lists SAST, SCA, container security, and IaC. Software Supply Chain Security lists CI/CD security, build runtime protection, code-leak detection, SBOM, and secrets and non-human identities. Posture Management lists 120 or more connectors. Maestro names the Exploitability Agent, which traces a SAST weakness or a CVE to whether it is exploitable in that code and runtime, and the Remediation Agent, which generates a code fix. Other Cycode pairs are Ox Security vs Cycode and Legit Security vs Cycode. More ASPM pages are under ASPM tools.
| Job | Stop a bad change before generation: threat model from the ticket or diagram, context in the prompt, AutoFix if code still ships wrong | Scan with named engines, decide if the finding is exploitable here, then open a fix. Plans cover code, supply chain, and posture |
|---|---|---|
| Artifact you can ask to see | A threat model on an epic or an uploaded diagram, drift between that model and the code, and a prompt that received the security context | A SAST or SCA finding, an Exploitability Agent trace into runtime, and a Remediation Agent diff |
| What fails a change | Secure Prompt and IDE, CLI, or chat access to the threat model. Pipeline policy is not the center of the Guardian Agent listing | Code, supply-chain, and posture plans, including CI/CD and AI guardrails on the ADLC Security plan |
| Public price | Annual contract measured in Agent Compute Units. ACU quantity and rate: contact Apiiro. Dollar omitted because the unit count is not public | 1,950.00 USD per monitored active developer per 12-month contract for the Cycode Platform on AWS Marketplace |
| Who runs it | AppSec that reviews design risk, and developers who meet Guardian Agent in the IDE | AppSec that owns scanners and Maestro, and developers who see results on the pull request |
The comment puts Cycode next to Snyk as the tool that tracks vulnerable versions across many repositories. That matches Cycode’s Code Security plan (SAST, SCA, container, IaC) and the supply-chain plan (CI/CD, build runtime, code leak, SBOM, secrets). Apiiro’s listing does not stop at a scanner brand: it says the platform can take a custom scanner or replace a legacy SCA or SAST tool, and AutoFix remediates what those findings leave behind.

Editions and pricing
Cycode’s website names modules and two meters, active developers and AI usage, without a dollar. AWS Marketplace posts one developer price. Apiiro’s Guardian Agent listing says the annual contract is measured in Agent Compute Units and that the allocation and rate come from Apiiro. The listing table’s dollar is omitted here because the ACU count inside that contract is not stated.
| How you buy it | Annual contract for Guardian Agent. Private offer via orders@apiiro.com | AWS annual contract per monitored developer, or a sales quote against the named plans |
|---|---|---|
| Currency, unit, period | Agent Compute Unit. Period is an annual contract. How many ACUs, and the rate: not found in this research | 1,950.00 USD per monitored active developer for 12 months. One unit is one active developer whose work the platform covers. Inactive accounts are not counted |
| Included product text | Guardian Agent: coding-agent intent, code, and action on endpoints and at runtime. Secure Prompt, AutoFix, and automated threat modeling are in the listing highlights | The marketplace summary says the developer unit covers SAST, SCA, software supply chain security, secrets scanning, container and IaC scanning, and posture management, with no separate add-on unit on that listing |
| What the website still splits out | A module menu with public dollars: not found in this research | ADLC Security, Code Security, Software Supply Chain Security, Posture Management, Complete, and usage-based Cycode AI. AI usage is a second meter on the pricing page. Confirm whether the 1,950.00 USD unit includes that AI meter |
Threat model before code, and the prompt
Apiiro’s announcement lists five checks. A buyer can ask for each one. Cycode’s matched pages list different checks. Where a Cycode page does not describe the same input, this row says so, which is not the same as a claim that Cycode cannot do it.
| Input before code | Feature requests and epics from ticketing and wiki systems. On demand: a diagram, a product spec, or a whiteboard screenshot. Apiiro’s threat-modeling post dates the launch to 23 Mar 2026 | A pre-code threat model from an epic, diagram, or spec: not found in this research. ADLC Security lists AI visibility, AI governance, and AI guardrails |
|---|---|---|
| What the model is compared to | STRIDE and other frameworks against architecture from code, artifacts, cloud, and infrastructure, including compensating controls already in place | Context Intelligence Graph across code, cloud, and developer activity. Exploitability Agent traces a finding to runtime. A STRIDE model of a design doc: not found in this research |
| Prompt control | Secure Prompt writes security and compliance context into the AI coding prompt. Surfaces include the IDE, CLI, UI chat, and a threat-modeling screen | ADLC guardrails and, on the AWS listing, steering of code generation that blocks insecure patterns and risky dependencies before the build. A threat-model object inserted into the prompt: not found in this research |
| Drift | Compare the threat model with the implementation: design intent, prompt, and code behavior | Maestro’s page includes “identify risky code changes.” The steps of that check are not spelled out next to the heading |
Scanners, exploitability, and the fix
| Named scanners | The Guardian Agent listing says you can plug in a scanner or replace legacy SCA and SAST. It does not name Apiiro’s own SAST, SCA, container, or IaC engine | Code Security: SAST, SCA, container security, IaC. Supply chain: CI/CD security, build runtime protection, code-leak detection, SBOM, secrets and non-human identities |
|---|---|---|
| Is it exploitable here | Threat model uses architecture and existing controls so a mitigated threat is not the same as an open one. A step-by-step trace from a SAST line to a runtime call: not found in this research | Exploitability Agent: is this SAST weakness exposed, and is this CVE exploitable in this code and runtime, not only present |
| Fix action | AutoFix remediates vulnerabilities and non-compliance in new commits and in code already in production | Remediation Agent generates a context-aware code fix. Maestro can sequence exploitability, then a fix, then a ticket, from one command |
| Other named agents | Guardian Agent is the agent in the listing. Separate Graph, CVE, and Repository agents: not found in this research | Maestro also names Graph Agent (natural-language questions on the graph), CVE Agent, and Repository Agent (what is in the repo and how it was built) |
Where they overlap
Both are sold as application-security platforms for teams using AI coding tools. Both can sit on top of scanner output: Apiiro by plugging a scanner in, Cycode by running its own or connecting others. Both name an automatic fix, AutoFix on one side and the Remediation Agent on the other. Both are annual contracts rather than a self-serve card you can check out alone. Overlap is real on “find risk in code and propose a fix.” It does not make a design-time STRIDE model the same artifact as an exploitability trace.
When to use both
Both in one program is a budget choice when one team wants the threat model and the prompt control, and another team already lives in Cycode’s SAST, SCA, and supply-chain plans. Most groups will not pay for two fix bots on the same pull request. If you keep both, decide which one is allowed to open the fix, and which one only files the model or the exploitability note.
Ask Apiiro for the ACU count and rate behind Guardian Agent. Ask Cycode whether 1,950.00 USD per active developer per 12 months includes the AI-usage meter on the pricing page, or only the scanners and posture named in the AWS summary. Then match the demo to the artifact, not to the graph brand.
FAQs
Are Apiiro and Cycode the same ASPM?
No. Apiiro Guardian Agent names AI Threat Modeling from a feature request, diagram, or spec, Secure Prompt inside the coding prompt, and AutoFix. Cycode names SAST, SCA, container, and IaC on the Code Security plan, supply-chain controls on a separate plan, and Maestro agents that judge exploitability and generate a fix.
What public prices should buyers note?
Cycode on AWS Marketplace: 1,950.00 USD per monitored active developer for a 12-month contract. The listing summary says that unit covers SAST, SCA, supply chain, secrets, container and IaC scanning, and posture management, with no add-on unit on the listing. Cycode’s website still meters AI usage separately and does not print a dollar for it. Apiiro prices Guardian Agent as an annual contract in Agent Compute Units and says to contact Apiiro for the allocation and rate. The ACU quantity is not public, so the contract dollar is omitted.
Does a Cycode exploitability trace replace a design threat model?
They are different artifacts. Cycode’s Exploitability Agent starts from a SAST weakness or a CVE and asks if it is exploitable in that code and runtime. Apiiro’s AI Threat Modeling starts from a ticket, diagram, or spec, compares it with code-to-runtime architecture, and can put the result in the coding prompt. Use the one whose input you actually have.
Is this a scored bake-off?
No. Order is editorial.
