Adaptive Shield vs AppOmni: Which One Fits Your SaaS Posture Stack?

Falcon Shield and AppOmni both monitor SaaS configuration, identity, and threats. Falcon Shield publishes 200+ apps, 3,500+ checks, and custom Security Checks. AppOmni publishes API checks on permissions and data access, plus Marlin AI investigations.

CrowdStrike Falcon Shield, the current Adaptive Shield product, and AppOmni both monitor SaaS configuration, identity, and threats. Falcon Shield’s product page prints 200+ integrated SaaS apps out of the box and 3,500+ unique application hardening and configuration checks, and it says teams can add custom Security Checks. AppOmni’s site prints integrations with over 100 SaaS applications, naming Salesforce, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Google Workspace, and Workday among them.

Those catalog figures are not a ranking of how far either product goes inside an app. Falcon Shield names AI agent discovery on Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and OpenAI: map system access, detect risky behavior, and contain threats. It also names human and non-human identities that are over-permissioned, high risk, dormant, or partially deprovisioned, plus sanctioned, unsanctioned, and connected apps. AppOmni names API inspection of configurations, permission structures, and data access, and it names respond actions that block AI prompts, revoke access, or disable a risky integration. Marlin AI correlates security indicators, investigates, and returns guided remediation. A public dollar price for either product was not found in this research.

The comment names Salesforce Data Loader. It describes a connected-app grant, not a bake-off. Falcon Shield’s page covers connected apps and identity posture. AppOmni’s page covers permission structures and disabling a risky integration. Both are relevant to that grant. Neither page prints a measured investigation-time figure for this scenario.

If the team already runs Falcon and wants these SaaS checks in that console, the packaging path is Falcon Shield. If the team wants AppOmni’s API permission checks and Marlin AI in their own console, the path is an AppOmni quote. The pages do not print a dollar difference.

Named SaaS controls

The homepage FAQ names permission structures and who can access what inside the application.
What a count does not settle200+ apps and 3,500+ checks are catalog and check-library figures. They do not, by themselves, show how Falcon Shield treats one named setting inside Salesforce.Over 100 applications is a catalog figure. It does not, by itself, show that AppOmni goes further inside an app than Falcon Shield. Named API checks on permissions and data access are a separate control from the count.

If the painful week is Security Checks across the apps Falcon Shield connects, that is a Falcon Shield control. If the painful week is permission structures and data access inside Salesforce, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Google Workspace, or Workday, that is an AppOmni control the vendor names. The sources do not support treating one catalog number as proof that the other product is shallow.

Threat and AI-agent controls

Adaptive Shield Adaptive ShieldAppOmni AppOmni
Threat controlsReal-time alerts and automated responses for suspicious user behavior, login anomalies, and device issues.Detection of threats, anomalies, risky behavior, and AI agents acting outside their intended scope. Remediation the page namesAutomated responses, plus remediation steps attached to Security Checks. A step-by-step remediation catalog was not copied here.Guided remediation from Marlin AI. Also: block an AI prompt, revoke access, disable a risky integration, or trigger incident response through SOC tools.
SOC pathFindings sit in Falcon Shield on the Falcon platform. A separate public list of third-party SOAR product names was not found on the Falcon Shield page reviewed here.AppOmni says it integrates with SOC tools so teams can push response actions. A single public count of those SOC integrations was not found in this research.

AppOmni’s homepage walks an Okta case: two successful authentications, 5,690 miles and 41 minutes apart, correlated inside a 720-minute window. That is a named Marlin AI investigation example. Falcon Shield’s page names login anomalies as an alert type and does not print this Okta example. The two examples are not a shared measurement.

Where they overlap

Both connect to SaaS APIs. Both look at configuration. Both look at identities and permissions. Both talk about AI agents in SaaS. Both name Salesforce and Microsoft 365. Falcon Shield still has threat alerts. AppOmni still has configuration monitoring. An RFP that only says SSPM will get two credible responses, and the catalog counts above do not pick a winner.

When to use both

A team standardized on Falcon can still add AppOmni when it wants that console’s permission and data-access checks, or Marlin AI investigations, on applications it already cares about. The product pages do not make the two installs mutually exclusive.

Choose Falcon Shield on this pair when the required controls are Security Checks, custom Security Checks, connected-app and identity posture, and AI agent discovery on Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and OpenAI inside Falcon. Choose AppOmni when the required controls are API inspection of configurations, permission structures, and data access, plus Marlin AI investigations, on the applications AppOmni names.

Match the control you will run to the control each vendor prints. Falcon Shield prints 200+ apps, 3,500+ checks, custom Security Checks, and AI agent discovery on Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and OpenAI. AppOmni prints over 100 applications, API checks on permissions and data access, and Marlin AI investigations.
