SailPoint vs Saviynt for provisioning, certification recommendations, and separation of duties
Both provision and remove access, put a recommendation on the certification line, and separate duties. The written difference is how that recommendation is produced, and whether a conflicting request is blocked while it is provisioned.
On 3 Oct 2026 the SailPoint lifecycle page still describes automated provisioning, role-change updates, and deactivation for employees, contractors, partners, machine identities, and AI agents, triggered from a source such as HR. Saviynt’s separation-of-duties page describes the same jobs in its own words: block a conflicting request while it is provisioned, detect a conflict that already exists, and extend those controls to service accounts, APIs, and AI agents.
SailPoint’s access-recommendations help says certification recommendations come from peer-group analysis and that the reviewer still decides. A recommendation icon means more than 70% of the peer group has the access, or that the access is unique or held by 70% or less of that group. Saviynt’s 5 March 2025 certification post names a trust score from environmental risk signals, a recommendation, and predefined comments. Saviynt’s 14 August 2025 update extends that certification screen to application-owner, entitlement-owner, and service-account campaigns, and names just-in-time access. An unsigned-line rule in SailPoint’s certification help is a SailPoint detail. It was not found in this research on the Saviynt pages that could be opened, and it is not the reason to pick either product.
Overview
| Primary use case | Workforce identity governance in SailPoint Human Fabric: lifecycle from an HR source, certification recommendations, and separation of duties | Workforce identity governance in Saviynt Identity Cloud: provisioning, a trust score on the certification line, and a preventive separation-of-duties block |
|---|---|---|
| Provisioning | Lifecycle page: create and provision from an authoritative source, update access when the role changes, and deactivate on departure. Named identity types include employees, contractors, partners, machine identities, and AI agents | 14 August 2025 post: account and access provisioning and deprovisioning for Oracle Fusion, plus a SCIM server. The SoD page blocks a conflicting request during that provisioning workflow |
| Certification recommendation | Help: peer-group analysis, on by default, guidance only. Not generated for role-composition or uncorrelated-account certifications. A campaign can turn the icons off | 5 March 2025 post: trust score, a recommendation, predefined comments, and a personalized view. Early-adoption figures on that post are a 60% improvement in review completion time, 20% fewer steps, and a 35% increase in revocation rate |
| Separation of duties | SoD page: detect violations, build custom policies, enforce them across applications, and group policies for SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA | SoD page: a preventive engine blocks a request that would create a conflict during provisioning, and detective monitoring flags access that already exists. Named rulesets include SAP, Oracle, and Workday |
| Leaver | Lifecycle page: departure deactivates accounts | 14 August 2025 post: bulk user removal for leavers inside a certification campaign, described as deactivation without stopping the campaign |
| Just-in-time access | Not found in this research on the lifecycle page or the access-recommendations help. That is unknown, not a missing control | Pro tier on the pricing page, and the 14 August 2025 post, which calls it just-in-time access for zero standing privilege at the application layer |
| License/pricing | Suites named Standard, Business, and Business Plus. No dollar amount on the listing opened 3 Oct 2026 | Essentials, Pro, and Premium on the tier list. The FAQ on that page calls the top tier Premier. No dollar amount |
Pages opened 3 Oct 2026 were SailPoint’s lifecycle page, separation-of-duties page, access-recommendations help, and certification-completion help, plus the AWS Marketplace listing sold by SailPoint, and Saviynt’s separation-of-duties page, pricing page, 5 March 2025 certification post, and 14 August 2025 platform update. The 60%, 20%, and 35% figures are Saviynt’s.
SailPoint

Saviynt

SailPoint, Inc. (Nasdaq: SAIL) still sells the product as SailPoint. The certification help calls the SaaS product Human Fabric. The AWS Marketplace listing opened the same day still says Identity Security Cloud and names suites Standard, Business, and Business Plus. Saviynt, Inc. still sells the product as Saviynt. No announcement that another identity vendor bought Saviynt and renamed it was found on the pages opened 3 Oct 2026.
Editions and pricing
Neither vendor printed a dollar rate on the pages opened 3 Oct 2026. A package name without currency, unit, period, and commitment is not a price.
| Names on the page | AWS Marketplace listing sold by SailPoint: Standard, Business, and Business Plus. The listing text says those suites include Harbor Pilot and other identity-security capabilities. No dollar column was on the listing | Pricing page tier list: Essentials, Pro, and Premium. The FAQ on the same page says Premier for the top tier. Essentials is core identity governance. Pro adds identity security posture management and just-in-time access. Premium, in the tier list, adds integrations, privileged and external users, and AI orchestration |
|---|---|---|
| What the FAQ adds | A public identity cap or application cap was not found in this research on the lifecycle page or that marketplace listing | The FAQ says Pro does not cap the number of applications or identities, and that the identity count can be raised or lowered. Saviynt-developed connectors are included. Partner-developed connectors are sold separately. A connector total was not printed |
| Public price (3 Oct 2026) | Not found in this research. No currency, unit, period, or commitment | Not found in this research. No currency, unit, period, or commitment |
| Name to confirm on the order | Whether the tenant is Human Fabric, which the certification help uses, or still labeled Identity Security Cloud, which the marketplace listing still uses | Whether the order says Premium or Premier |
Provisioning
| What a joiner receives | Lifecycle page: connect an HR source, define roles, and automate creation and provisioning | 14 August 2025 post: automate account and access provisioning for Oracle Fusion, and expose provisioning through SCIM. A full joiner-state list was not found in this research on that post |
|---|---|---|
| What a mover or leaver loses | Lifecycle page: role changes update access, and departure deactivates accounts | 14 August 2025 post: Oracle Fusion deprovisioning, and bulk user removal for leavers inside a campaign |
| Applications named | The lifecycle FAQ names Workday or SAP SuccessFactors as examples of an HR source. A connector total was not printed on the pages opened | 14 August 2025 post: SAP S/4HANA Fiori role-to-application visibility, Oracle Fusion provisioning, and SCIM. No connector total was stated |
| What to confirm on the order | That the HR source you use is the one that will create and deactivate accounts | That the application you must write to is Oracle Fusion, a SCIM application, or another integration named on your order. The posts do not list every application |
The comment names SailPoint and describes HR-driven birthright access. SailPoint’s lifecycle page describes that pattern. Saviynt’s August 2025 post describes automated provisioning and deprovisioning for Oracle Fusion, which is the same job on a named application.
Certifications
SailPoint’s certification-completion help carries a phased-availability banner for the next-generation engine. A matching rollout note was not found in this research on Saviynt’s March and August 2025 posts.
| What the reviewer sees | Access-recommendations help: a peer-group icon. Above 70% of the peer group, the access is the common case. At 70% or below, or if it is unique in the group, the icon marks it the other way. The help says the reviewer is still responsible for the decision | 5 March 2025 post: a trust score, a recommendation for whether to approve, and predefined comments such as a revoke because the access is no longer required for the role. The post’s early-adoption figures are Saviynt’s, not a timed test from this page |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign types named | The recommendations help distinguishes certification recommendations from access-request recommendations. Certification recommendations can be turned off for a campaign from Search, or globally for manager and source-owner campaigns | 14 August 2025 post: the March experience, first described for user-manager campaigns, now also covers application-owner, entitlement-owner, and service-account campaigns |
| Close rule | Certification-completion help: the default deadline is two weeks after creation, with a reminder every seven days until sign-off. At completion, an admin can maintain undecided items or revoke them, depending on campaign configuration. SailPoint recommends maintaining them. Decisions a reviewer made but did not sign off remain in place when an admin then revokes the rest | Not found in this research. The March and August 2025 posts do not state what an undecided line does when the campaign closes. That is unknown, not a claim that Saviynt keeps the line or drops it |
| What a revoke does | Certification-completion help: a direct-connect source can remove the access. If it cannot, the source owner gets a manual task. The help says to verify remediation | The March 2025 post says reviewers revoke access they should not keep. Whether that revoke writes back automatically or opens a task was not found in this research |
Separation of duties
| What the product page says | SailPoint’s separation-of-duties page: scan for violations, build custom policies, enforce them across applications, and group policies for SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA | Saviynt’s separation-of-duties page: detect conflicts inside one application and across applications. The page names SOX, PCI DSS, and HIPAA, and pre-built rulesets for SAP, Oracle, Workday, and others |
|---|---|---|
| Prevent or detect | The solution page says detect and prevent. It does not describe a block at request time in those words. A policy cap was not re-checked for this revision | The page says the preventive engine blocks a request that would create a conflict during provisioning, and detective monitoring flags access that already exists. Whether an approver can override that block was not found in this research |
| Where it showed up again | The lifecycle page treats least privilege as an ongoing access decision, not as a named SoD ruleset | The 14 August 2025 post adds a SoD dashboard and, for SAP, analysis that identifies and prevents conflicting combinations at the application level |
Where they overlap
Both are sold for workforce provisioning, access certification with a recommendation on the line, separation of duties, and removal of a leaver. An RFP that only says “IGA platform” will get adjacent demos. Those four jobs are the overlap. Connector totals were not printed on either set of pages opened 3 Oct 2026, so this page does not add one.
The difference that is written on both sides is the shape of the recommendation and the shape of the SoD control. SailPoint’s help names peer-group icons and a 70% threshold, and says the reviewer still decides. Saviynt’s March 2025 post names a trust score and a recommendation. SailPoint’s SoD page names custom policies grouped for SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA. Saviynt’s SoD page names a block during provisioning and detective monitoring after, with rulesets for SAP, Oracle, and Workday. Just-in-time access is named on Saviynt’s Pro tier and August 2025 post. It was not found in this research on the SailPoint pages opened.
When to use both
These are two workforce identity governance platforms. Two campaign calendars for the same people means a line can be certified in one and revoked in the other. Pick the platform that provisions and deprovisions a given source. A certification export re-keyed into the second product is a second review, not a shared decision.
Choose SailPoint when the workforce system is Human Fabric, you need HR-connected provisioning and deactivation for the identity types on the lifecycle page, peer-group certification recommendations, and custom separation-of-duties policies grouped for SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA. Choose Saviynt when you need the preventive block on the separation-of-duties page, just-in-time access named on Pro, and the trust-score certification screen from 5 March 2025. Confirm the top package name on the order. The pricing page uses Premium in the tier list and Premier in the FAQ. No public dollar price was found for either product.
FAQs
Do both products provision, certify, and separate duties?
Yes, on the public pages opened 3 Oct 2026. SailPoint’s lifecycle, certification, and separation-of-duties pages describe those jobs. Saviynt’s separation-of-duties page and the March and August 2025 posts describe those jobs.
What does an undecided certification line do?
On SailPoint’s certification-completion help, an admin can maintain undecided items or revoke them, and SailPoint recommends maintaining them. That Saviynt behavior was not found in this research. It is unknown, not a missing capability, and it is not the reason to choose either product.
Does Saviynt name just-in-time access?
Yes. The pricing page puts it on Pro, and the 14 August 2025 post describes just-in-time access at the application layer. A matching phrase was not found in this research on the SailPoint lifecycle page or the access-recommendations help.
Is Human Fabric the same name as the marketplace listing?
The certification help says Human Fabric. The AWS Marketplace listing opened 3 Oct 2026 still says Identity Security Cloud and names suites Standard, Business, and Business Plus. No dollar amount was on that listing.
What public prices were checkable?
No dollar amount, currency, unit, period, or commitment on the SailPoint marketplace listing or the Saviynt pricing page. Saviynt’s tier list says Premium and the FAQ says Premier. Saviynt-developed connectors are included. A connector count was not printed.
